well we lost our servers, had to restore the code from backup. which means no more user info, no more pictures etc. read more...
I would like to request that everyone start uploading images like a crazy person and commenting on every package they see. I'd love to get this site back to the state it was in. The Subversion repo of the code and the source viewer are down for the time being, if you see anything else not working as expected give me a shout and I will fix it ASAP. mikevalstar@gmail.com
I wont be able to do too much to improve Gentoo-Portage.com for a while while i work on the much harder task of restoring the wiki. I'l have news here and on gentoo-wiki.com daily.

It's good to see things are coming back together. Thanks for your hard work, this and the wiki are a huge resource for the Gentoo community (so much so that I'm surprised Gentoo hasn't tried to get themselves an official version).

Sad story, same old thing with unreliable hosts.You are damn right about the offline backups. This could happen to any of us, anytime.

Good work getting this site back up. I'm looking forward to being able to use the wiki again, too. It's just not the same relying on google's cache of articles that I use as a constant reference. Thank you for your dedication to the Gentoo community!

One suggestion: there are quite a few cached wiki pages on google's servers. Maybe at least some of that invaluable information could be restored from there.

Dude, how did this happen and what steps are you taking to make sure this doesn't happen again in the future? If your drives do fail again in the future are you going to have backups for the data?
