Subversion Repository - 14/04/2006 18:28 GMT

I finally got around to seting up an SVN repository for the website's code. Feel free to check it out and submit any code patches for the site you want (if your so inclined) to my email mikevalstar@thrashcorp.com. I'll be looking into adding a browser such as ViewVC later in the week.

also I'm looking for some more ideas for things to add to the site; comment on this post and help give me some ideas.

I think your site needs more Linux.

I was stuck in a console this morning and tried to surf here with lynx only to discover when you search, none of the package links work... I'd appreciate better compatability with text-only browsers.

just an idea: "Newest Packages" listing according to the visiters local timezone

I miss the format of the old rss feeds, where it listed the most recently added packages first, instead of in alphabetical order like it is now.

The "browse" functionality isn't quite there either; a tree system of hyperlinks like <top> / <category> / <package> would make it easier to get around. Also, the default view could have the package url's title attribute set to the package description, right now that info is only available in list view.

Just my 2 cents. I like the gradual adding of AJAX elements into the site, keep up the good work.

The rss feeds always did date then alpha. the rss feed should still be doing that however with the old version there was only 1 update per day, the new one does them as they come in (6 times per day I update).

I'll look into adding some of the other ideas suggested

I am sure that this has been said before but the auto-completion sugguestions on the search bar were very helpful expecially whe n uncertain of the name of a package. Besides that the site is amazing!

yeah i'm still working on the search suggest... The guy who helped me with it last time is busy, but i'll push him again to help out :)

USE-flags page is unusable! I think you shall improve/enlighten it a little.

And it would be GREAT if there were links to packages for download near ebuild download ( example - www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/stable/kde/kde-i18n.html )

the USE flags page is simply a list of every use flag; what would you like me to improve about it? i have been thinking of separating the local from the global use flags.

package downloads sounds like a cool idea, i'll look into getting something like that setup.

It's -extremely- slow even on a modern workstation (at list via Opera). Check your mail for a trick of how to optimize it.
