cdrtools-2.01.01_alpha34, completely screwed up burning for a regular user. I keep getting SCSI ioctl permission denied errors (see forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-600140-highlight-cdrecord+scsi+ioctl.html). Downgrading to cdrtools-2.01.01_alpha25 fixed the problem.
