Agree with you... but emacs is the best editor, _period_. Very easy to learn, and extremely powerful. I highly recommend the CVS version of emacs, instead, as it uses a much nicer GTK+ interface, and more features, and looks nicer.

Don't like it at all. Not sure why an official project like this is so seemingly junky and out of date. Takes longer to learn to use than it's worth. And it's ugly.
