JB, the extras package tends to lag behind the 'bleedin edge' of the main drivers. It's there for the unmasked driver version, beyond that it's pot-luck :-S
I agree it's irritating but in the end I have just unmerged this package so I never get any dependency foulups with the latest drivers.
